Impulse Response Creation

A while ago we discussed the use of “Impulse Responses”. Impulse responses are digital models of a speaker cabinet, a speaker, a microphone, and the placement of the microphone. These are used in conjunction with digital amplifier simulators to help us create a natural guitar signal chain directly into our computers audio interface.

There is also software out there that lets us create our own impulse responses. Imagine you are doing a studio fly date. Most likely you won’t be able to bring all of your favorite speaker cabinets with you. Now you can create “IRs” of all of your cabinets and use an “IR Loader” software to load these into your signal chain.

Pretty cool!
