Audio to MIDI Pt 1: Intro

One of the most revolutionary tools to show up in a DAW in recent history is the “Audio to MIDI” function. Any clip of audio can be converted to a MIDI file just by right clicking on it.

When right clicking on a file, the user can select converting a drum sample, melody, or harmony sample. The program does an amazing job at this conversion. I've encountered a few errors when converting audio clips that have pitch bends or intonation idiosyncrasies, but on the whole I have been amazed with the accuracy of this process.

The implications and uses of this are mind blowing and endless!

More on this next time.
